Montecatini Terme, as the name suggests is a Spa town. It was during the end of the 1800’s that the Tuscan town of Montecatini Terme became an important international center for the “Belle Epoque“, visited by artists, musicians & composers and the “rich & famous” from all over (Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, & Richard Strauss, just to name a few) though, this area was well known even during the Roman times for its special waters. However, there are claims that the waters were used for their healing properties long before.
The beautiful Parco delle terme, or Park of the Baths is just a short walk from the hotel.
Montecatini Terme, immerse in the beautiful Tuscan countryside, has a reputation of being the playground for the rich and famous, it’s common to see a Ferrari parked up outside one of it’s many designer stores. However another jewel in Italy’s already laden crown is that whether you have the euros for designer labels or not you can look every bit as as stylish! Montecatini has an array of independent boutiques that offer fashionable items at reasonable prices.
Of course no Italian town is complete without a Piazza and Piazza del Popolo in Montecatini will not disappoint. Edged with hotels, coffee bars, restaurants and boutique shops the piazza is the place for culture lovers to sit and enjoy a Cappuccino while soaking up the vibes of true Italian life.
We will enjoy our stay in the elegant, 4* Columbia SPA Hotel, in the heart of the town, a few minutes walk from the high street.
The panoramic restaurant offers a fantastic view and delicious food. We will have dinner at the hotel on 4 nights. One evening will be free. As for breakfast, it’s your typical Continental affair, with plenty of fresh bread, ham and cheese on offer.
The bedrooms are light and airy. Comfy beds, LCD TV, air-conditioning, mini bar, hairdryer, safe, WiFi.
The Columbia Hotel has a swimming pool and Wellness Center with a wide range of treatments aimed at maintaining the perfect psycho-physical shape.
We will have one day excursion to get to know this beautiful city.
We will meet our local guide and departure for a tour of Montecatini. We will visit also Montecatini Alto, the Medieval town which can be reached by funicular.
We will have all afternoon at leisure for shopping and more sightseeing. We will return to our hotel for dinner.
To make the most of our trip to Tuscany, we will visit the charming city of FLORENCE on a day train trip. We will meet our local guide and departure for a tour of one of the Italian cultural and artistic main centres. A place to visit at least once in a lifetime and to return to, if you have already been there.
The TANGO CLASSES will be held in the Hotel in sessions of 1.30/ 2 hours, according to the programme of the day.
Intensive and very personalised tuition.
The dance floor will also be available every evening for us to dance and practice!
TBC. If available, we will join the italian tangueros in a local milonga.
